Summer Intern
The Buffalo Grove Park District is now accepting applications for our summer internship program. Candidates must be current college students who are seeking an internship to fulfill their final graduation requirement. Students must be pursuing a degree in Recreation, Leisure Studies, or related field. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and transportation.
Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation and Recreation Supervisor(s), the summer intern will assist with the administration, supervision, and leadership of recreation and leisure activities, with an emphasis on special events and additional responsibilities such as:
1. Plans and prepares appropriate program budgets and develops goals and objectives for program areas.
2. Plans and coordinates seasonal programs that include preparing accurate brochure information related to program areas.
3. Prepare monthly Operations Reports, which include updates, statistics and evaluations on programs and personnel.
4. Works with Marketing Department on the development of all press releases, public service announcements and other public relations materials. Coordinates the distribution of newsletters, pamphlets, brochures, correspondences and marketing materials.
5. Order materials and supplies for the proper execution of assigned programs and events.
6. Participates with recreation department staff on department projects and special events.
7. Attends Park District wide special events and programs (in-person/virtual) as required by supervisor.
8. Manage independent contractors and independent contractor agreements as needed.
Hourly Rate:
$16 per hour (approximately 40 hours per week)
